Yesterday, CCS was in New York City for Go Skateboarding Day. And what went down all day long was nothing short of epic.
In addition to barging spots throughout 3 Boroughs (Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn), things got gnarly for two CCS Sponsored Best Trick Contests.
The CCS Maloof Best Trick Contest was the first to go down and happened on the big rail/steps portion of the Maloof park. A ton of carnage went down on that thing, but when the smoke settled Kechaud Johnson walked away with first place with a floating Back 360 over the rail, a Nollie Nosegrind and Switch Front Board down the rail. Clint Walker took second place with a Back Lip Shuv, Back Noseblunt and an insane, NBD Ollie Sex Change over the rail. Gnarly.
When the mob of skaters had settled at Brooklyn’s McCarren Park at the end of the day, the CCS Longest Ollie Contest happened. As most expected, Luis Tolentino walked away with first place and a solid G for flying over 21 decks.
It was another monumental day that’ll all go down in skateboarding history. Check some photos for a little taste of how it all happened. Make sure you swing by tomorrow to check an exclusive CCS GSD NYC video.

5boro’s Steve Rodriguez and hometown hero Luis Tolentino hype the crowd in Flushing.

Kechaud Johnson wasn’t sweating the fact his name was spelled wrong on his check. He took home first place in the CCS Maloof Big Rail Contest while Birdhouse’s Clint Walker walked away with second. These dudes destroyed it.

We were tossing out Brian Anderson designed CCS/GSD shirts all day. Here’s one proud wearer of the tee.

What? Patrick Melcher was in New York? Damn right he was. Here he is muggin’ it up with Steve R.

5boro was most definitely in the house. Willy Akers, Tombo, Jimmy McDonald, Joe Took & Dan Pensyl.

Chad Muska localized the spot, signing autographs every couple minutes.

Zoo York Am Kevin Tierney and Chocolate Flow killer, Yaje Popson.

Am Project Rider Michael Davis flew in from Tigard, Oregon to rep CCS with a proper sticker job.

The mob makes their way from Manhattan to Brooklyn.

Barging the Williamsburg Bridge straight to Brooklyn.

Luis Tolentino won the CCS Long Ollie Contest with a whopping 21 deck ollie. Damn!

Yeah Luis!

The product toss got wild from the semi-truck rooftop.

A good old fashioned product toss will never get old. Look at the determination in those eyes.

Free stuff. You can’t beat it, a that’s the eye of the tiger right there…the begging tiger.
