Once you strip the whole thing down, the wild, unruly and sometimes contentious Los Angeles-based hip-hop collective known as OFWGKTA is about artistic irreverence—the often talked, but seldom-walked act of truly not giving a flying (insert explicative here) about anything or anyone when it comes to creativity and self-expression. In a world that’s trying to get you to be like someone else, act a certain way, look a certain way or say certain things, Odd Future hasn’t just paved their own path; they’ve blown up the entire city and replaced it with a massive circus tent, with laser guns, satanic rainbow kitty cats and a helicopter-landing pad on top. It’s hard to say where these dudes got it from, but we’re pretty sure it has something to do with skateboarding. After all, Tyler came up as an LA skater and has been reading CCS since his early days.
