Exclusive Interview | Ishod Wair
Oct 9, 2013 2:19 PM CDT

South Jersey’s Ishod Wair is like an assassin. He’ll roll into your consciousness all stealth and nonchalant and then blow your mind with his casual yet controlled precision and consistency.

My job here is not to blow smoke up your ass, it’s to alert you to what’s hot and I assure you Ishod is piping hot. Just take a gander at his earth rattling part in Real’s Since Day One (April 2011) and countless other clips he’s put out since, namely Sabotage 3. The kid seems to be a machine. We recently linked up with Real’s hired gun Ishod Wair for a little rapid fire Internet Q & A. Read on:

First off what does the name Ishod mean?
Well my full name is Ishod Kadal Baroody Wair.  Ishod Kadal means man of glory and Baroody means teacher.

I finished watching your clips in Sabotage 3, your given name definitely sums you up, your folks definitely got it right.  So what have you been up to?
Nothing I’ve been hurt. My back’s been hurt. It’s not very serious, have been trying to take it easy.

Where are you living at the moment?
I’m in Philly.

Chinese food or Italian food?
Italian food.

Would you rather travel or stay at home?
Travel.

What is your favorite place to travel?
Spain. Barcelona and Europe in general.

What video part has had the biggest influence on you?
I can’t say just one specific video, I like pretty much everything.

Sketchiest thing you’ve ever seen at LOVE Park?
I haven’t seen too many sketchy things just some fights. I seem to always miss the crazy sh*t. Once there was this big fight between skaters and a wedding party.

What motivates you?
Just skateboarding motivates me there is always something new to learn. I try to learn as many tricks as I can and have fun. Also skating new spots motivates me. No two spots are ever the same, even if it is a replica.

What Street League stop was your favorite?
Kansas City, Barcelona and New Jersey.

What has been your heaviest Fan experience? Have you ever had to sign any boobies yet?
Nah that would be cool though.

What is your warm up trick?
I usually just do a kickflip or an Ollie or a Tre-flip.

SInce you are hurt what have you been doing to kill time?
I’ve been playing a bunch of GTA 5 since I’ve been hurt. Or I just go out skating with my friends but I don’t skate.

What is your proudest moment?
I guess it would be the Maloof Cup Africa, I can’t believe that happend.

Last trick you filmed?
An ollie into a bank.

What is in Ishod Wair’s future?
Who knows. I’ll keep skating as long as I can.

Ishod’s Sponsors are: Nike SB, Real, Thunder, Spitfire, Fourstar, Anthony's Cookies, Stance Socks, Diamond, Shake Junt, Bones Swiss
