SXSW Texas Death Match | Day 1 Photo Recap
Mar 13, 2013 9:14 PM CDT

It's the end of CCS' day one here at SXSW and the first day of the annual Thrasher x Cons Texas Death Match. The crew arrived in Austin last night and took it to the bar for a little warm up for today's activities—and warm up we did. If the first day of The Death Match is any indication of what's to come we'd say we're in store for one hell of a week in the Lone Star State.

The day kicked off with some sludgy grooves from FiggyNuge and Frecks' band Arctic followed by a stand out performance by the always rocking Hanni El Khatib. A few hours later LA shredders The Shrine went on followed by the neo psych vibes of King Tuff. Afterwards Trash Talk hit the stage and got the pit circling in preparation of the afternoon's ending act—punk icons, The Adolescents

If the lineup of bands wasn't enough, the ramp was firing all day long with locals, ams and pros dueling it out under the Texas sun. There's much more to come from SXSW so stay tuned to The Corner for daily updates, photos and videos.

The calm before the storm. This year's Death Match ramp just moments before the carnage began.
If you get a job in skateboard industry marketing you get to risk life and limb by doing **** like this. Dave from Thrasher with perfect style and execution.

Heavy bros right here. Dude from The Shrine, Figgy, Slash and Frecks! Nothing but pinnacle vibes from this bunch.

The Shrine! We got to chill with these stand up gents quite a bit today. And yeah, they rip—hard. Dig The Shrine or you're blowing it.

Lee from Trash Talk is one hell of a performer. Always rad seeing these guys light up the pit.
Take notes, kids. This is The Adolescents. These punk icons closed out the afternoon at the Thrasher house and brought the crowd a feel-good conclusion to an epic first day of music.
