Contrary to how he might seem, Expedition Pro Ryan Gallantcut his teeth playing drums for bands in the thriving Boston hardcore scene during the 90s. Aside from skateboarding, Gallant spent his time behind the kit from age ten to twenty—which is why the design direction and concept behind his latest web edit, All Ages, makes perfect sense. As well as an obvious nod to the famous Boston hardcore documentary, All Ages, Ryan Gallant's new video rekindles the vibe of older skate videos from that era complete with a hardcore score. We caught up with Ryan this week to find out more about his new video, his thoughts on Expedition's growing team, the Boston bombings and more. Check it out.
All Ages just dropped. You hyped on how it all came out?
Yeah, I'm hyped. It's kind of got a different vibe compared to my other parts, but I think it's cool. I spent a lot of my younger years at hardcore shows every weekend. Might have to do a rap remix soon for the gangsters, though.
How long have you been working on it?
I’m not sure. At first I was just skating a lot and filming, but I wasn't really working on a part. After a while it started stacking up and maybe a year and half or so I guess I built up a lot and wanted to get it all out and start fresh again.
What tricks were you most hyped on getting for it?
I was pretty hyped on the 180 fakie 5-0 in New York. It’s nice to get a little east coast footage. Maybe the last trick too.
What's the story behind the All Ages concept?
We were just trying to get that older skate feel—like the old H-Street videos and ****. I played drums in hardcore bands from age ten to twenty so it was a pretty big part of my life. Stage dives and wind mills all day.
Being from Boston, what's your take on all the craze out there right now with the bombings?
I hate it man. It's ****ed. Not sure what I believe about the whole story, but whatever the truth behind it is it's really ****ing lame. I have friends who's family members were injured and all that. It's sad. I spent a lot of time skating and chilling right where the bombs went off. My heart goes out to everyone affected by it.
Do you make it a point to get back home much? You still keep ties to friends and family back that way?
I try. It's harder now that I have a kid and stuff these days. I haven't been back in awhile unfortunately. Now that it's getting warm, I'll probably creep back there.
Expedition has been making some heavy team additions lately. Are you excited about all the new dudes who are on?
So hyped! Expedition has always had a rad team, but now with Tom and Zered it's just insane. Everyone gets along and it's just a solid crew. Those dudes are so amazing to watch—straight gnar!
You been out skating with Zered at all? What about Tom?
Yeah. I used to skate with Zered when we were kids around Boston. Right now we are actually on the road and both those dudes are here. It's so sick watching Tom fly around and destroy **** and Zered just kills everything in his path. They're both rulers!

I'm thinking if you plant "both" feet on an obstacle, it would be more of a "bomb drop" or "acide drop" type, but not boneless. I mean there are so many names for so-called "boneless", such as if you grab front-side and plant your back foot is doing...
