I already know that I have a huge passion for skateboarding. I love watching skate videos and learning all about skating, but I find it difficult to actually learn to skate. It has really begun to harm who I am and has killed my self-confidence in a way. If you have any tips for me and how I can improve in learning to skate, please feel free to reply to this thread. I am not only making this thread for myself, but for others that may be having the same problem.

I kno wat thats like, watched all the vids, have all the energy, but ur body doesnt want to do what u want it too
ur problem is that u have to find a way to make it work out for urself. U HAVE TO KEEP TRYING even tho u know ur performin it wrong EVERYDAY. Ur body will eventually pick up on things that u dont even see, an know, thats how sum new tricks r born. U MUST keep at it, all that frustration an anger an feeling of -im lost- is what a lot of ppl feel when they start out doin someting cool, KNOW that ur not the only one. U cant run w/o knowin how to walk, an u can't
walk without knowin how to crawl. u should tell ppl what ur havin trouble with X-actly so that ppl can give u suggestions from there

Just take it slow and don't get frustrated. Make sure that you are prepared, as in are comfotable riding around. For me my main issue was that I had the wrong shoes =P For months I struggled to ollie, but when I tried my friends skate shoes, I landed it instantly. As for progression, again, take it slow. I always run through all the tricks I can do before i move onto the stuff I can't do yet, it helps with board control and concistency and plus, tricks usually build onto one another. I have felt stuck before, I'd been trying to kickflip for many many months with no luck. It felt weird to place my feet in the position and my foot was alsmost parallel with the board. Eventually, it became more natural. I don't land them consistently, but I can get it after a few tries. Don't give up and give it your all!
